For years, both Democrat and Republican politicians contributed to America’s crippling national debt. With little concern for our children and grandchildren, both parties became addicted to wasteful Washington spending. Well, times have finally changed.
In Congress, Steve has held both parties feet to the fire on spending. He has been a leading voice in the Republican Conference in ensuring that his party lived up to the campaign promises on spending reform made to the American people. Steve has voted for historic levels of spending reductions, including a bill that would cut and cap federal spending and balance the budget. He also cosponsored legislation that would prohibit members of Congress from collecting a paycheck if they fail to enact a yearly budget as mandated by the Constitution.
Simply put, the days of massive bailouts, stimulus handouts, cash for clunkers, and wasteful Washington programs must end. It’s time for career politicians, who are all too happy to receive their salary, retirement and health care courtesy of the American taxpayer, to understand that the feeding frenzy is over. Steve is committed to making Washington function the same way that families and small businesses across North and Northwest Florida do – by living within our means and implementing a little fiscal common sense.
